| The temple has
a History bears testimony to the fact
that this temple had been built thousands
of years ago manned by the kings of Thondainadu,
then the later-Cholas, followed by Vijayanagar
Kings, who further expanded the temple.
The Uma-Maheswara Samvada Kanda of Skanda
Purana deals with the greatness of this
kshetra in chapters 301-06 and the particulars
given therein, that the temple is more
ancient than had been recognized. |
